Chief John Reynolds joined the East Moline Police Department on October 1, 1993. After serving time in uniform patrol, he was assigned to United Township High School as the school liaison officer. Following this assignment, he was promoted to Sergeant in 2001 where he served all three shifts in patrol as an assistant shift commander. In 2005, Chief Reynolds was promoted to Lieutenant. As Lieutenant, he served as the shift commander on third and first shifts as well as the Administrative Lieutenant. In January 2008, Chief Reynolds was promoted to Captain where he served until being appointed Chief on November 2, 2015.
Chief Reynolds is a graduate of Alleman High School, Rock Island and holds a Bachelor Degree and a Master of Law Enforcement Administration Degree from Western Illinois University, Macomb. Chief Reynolds is a graduate of the 236th Session of the FBI National Academy and a member of the Illinois and International Associations of Chiefs of Police. Chief Reynolds currently serves as the 3rd Vice President of the FBINAA Railsplitters Division.
