City of East Moline
Public Works Director

Due to an approaching retirement, the City of East Moline is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Public Works.  These positions are responsible for administering the daily operations and maintenance of seven (7) divisions (Garbage, Parks, Streets, Motor Pool, Water Distribution, Sewer Collections, Drainage/Storm Water, and Office Personnel, respectively.  The Director will manage, train, and motivate non-union and union personnel in all divisions of the Public Works Department. Must have familiarity with labor contracts, union negotiations, experience in enforcing contracts, budget preparation, must be able to write bid specifications for vehicles and construction projects.

To be considered successful candidates should possess an equivalent combination of training and experience from the minimum qualifications below:

-         Minimum associates degree from an accredited college or university in construction,         engineering, mechanics or related field

-         Minimum of 5 years experience in supervision

-         Two years experience in budget preparation

-         Three years experience in public works construction

-         Three years in experience in water utilities field

-         Knowledge of city ordinances, State and Federal laws

-         Knowledge of storm water practices and procedures

-         Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices

-         A Class "D" IEPA Public Water Supply Operators Certificate or able to obtain one within one year

-         A IDA Public Applicators License for applying pesticides or be able to obtain one within one year 

-         A current Commercial Drivers License (CDL)

-         An IEPA Wastewater Collection Operators Certificate (desirable)

-         Residency within East Moline required (Director)

 

Salary range $63,000 to $88,000 (Director)
